NEWS AND A GIVEAWAY

365 days after starting my blog, I am so excited to offer a gift for one of my readers. Thank you to all of you who read my blog, especially for the ones who leave comments. Your comments make me smile!

Okay, so much to say today. First, the giveaway. I figured since I am going light (in more ways than one), I ought to give away something light. I bought two of these today, one for me, one for you. I have to say that I have been a big fan of Cooking Light since the late 90's. There are always great recipes inside. Not to mention they have some workout ideas as well. This giveaway does come with a price... ok, all you have to do is tell me about your favorite, savory, light recipe in the comment section. It could be a link, a reference or a description.

And in other news, after 7 hours of cardio and 2 hours of strength, I am happy to report that I got rid of 7 pounds, wah hooooooooo! Thank you for all your support in regards to my weight as well. It will be a long journey but this was ONE BIG step!

UPDATE: Yup, I forgot the date for the announcement of the winner. You have until Saturday at midnight to leave one comment. I will announce the winner Sunday.

Congratulations on your weightloss :) I was trying to think of what I like that is "light" but yet "savory." Oatmeal. Steel-cut. I used to make regular (not that instant stuff) oatmeal a lot but switched to steel-cut last year. Num! Haven't gone back :) I love it with Splenda and skim milk, or apples, or raisins and apple juice. So many ways to play with it once I get a batch cooked up :)

Wow! Seven pounds! You worked hard and it totally paid off.
My quickie diet dinner is to throw chopped onions, broccoli, red or yellow bell peppers and either chicken or fish and greek seasoning into a saucepan with a bit of water...steam it all til the meat is cooked through and ta-da...dinner! It's the veggies and protien that I need and I don't get too sick of it.

You go girl!!! Congrats on the 7 lbs loss, that's just great!!!

Since I love to bake, here's a light dessert that was just wonderful & very satisfying.... when the sweet tooth comes a calling ;-) wish I had kept the recipe for the calorie count ;( , I do recall that it was low though.

Congratulations on a seven pound loss. That's GREAT! Sounds like you're doing especially well with your cardio.

Like you, I was introduced to CL magazine in the late 90's, and this salmon recipe is still in regular rotation at my house. I'll serve it with brown rice and steamed spinach on the side. Yum.

congrats on your loss. I'm still trying to get in the swing of watching what I'm eating after the holidays.

I'll be looking forward to seeing other light recipes from you to get me moving in the right direction.

Cooking light has a garden minestrone I love. It's filling and low cal. Plus it's full of great vegetables and beans.

Congratulations on your 7 pound weight drop, Lori! It's so easy going on and SO hard to get off-you're on the road, girl....keep up the great work!
I have a zucchini pie that I've lightened up with egg beaters and Heart Healthy Bisquick. I don't know the calorie count though. I pretty much try and go low fat with everything I cook-every now and then we have our splurge...but it's pretty much become a way of life here. Now all we have to do is get a grip on portion control....
Oh-I know you said savory, but I make a great Grapenut pudding that has all of no fat in it.......

Yea to 1 year! & yeah to 7 pounds that's a big step, keep it up!
I think my favorite light dish is roasted vegetables on a bed of spinach. I can change it up with whatever vegetables are in season & add just a little goat cheese if I want.

congrats! I need to get my butt in gear and get moving! I have gotten too lazy this winter.

I love cooking Light as well, so I would love to win this cookbook especially since I didn't subscribe this year. My favorite recipe would have to be their Chicken Biriyani, yum!

I have a recipe that came from cooking light for something called Tilapia Vera Cruz. So good. The topping is rotel tomatoes with olives and bunches of other good stuff. So tasty!

I'm new to your site, and what a great site! I love it. It also sounds like your off to a good start, thats great. To lighten up chili, I use ground turkey, and double the beans for more fiber. Another great dish is bake Talapia with salt, pepper, and olive oil. I make a topping by sauteeing chopped tomato, a little onion, garlic, and black olive. It is yummy. Good luck, and keep up the great work!
