Mini Cake Donuts

Here at our house we go from Holidays to birthday parties.  It's crammin' jammin', non-stop birthday parties.

This is what I made for breakfast for our slumber party guests.

Mini Cake Donuts

2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon shortening

Preheat mini donut maker.

In a large bowl, beat shortening with sugar and then add in eggs, one at a time. Mix flour, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Stir in milk and vanilla. Beat together until well blended.

Fill each donut hold with a heaping tablespoon of batter.  Close lid and heat until ready light comes on. Remove and place on rack.

For the glaze, I just mixed some sugar with milk and poured a little on the donuts while they were still warm.

Do they taste as good as they look? Never mind, I think they do. How do you like the donut maker? Is it easy to clean?

Hello Suzy,

Yes- they taste good. They are not really sweet though. I find they taste better with the glaze. This morning I put chocolate on them. I do like the donut maker. Its quick and easy. And I just wipe it clean after it dries. Comes right off (there is not much usually on it- just the drips as I loaded the donut sections up.

Hah, just got home with my new mini donut maker, had to fight off the mister, he wanted donuts asap. It's so cute! I know what I'm doing tomorrow.

Hey Suzy! How fun. I like these vanilla ones but my favorites are the pumpkin ones. I totally love pumpkin though. I can't wait to hear about what you make tomorrow!
